In no particular order:  2010 will see the publication of a stand-alone book set in the Castings Universe, called “Ember and Ash”.  No, it’s not the fourth book in the trilogy, it really is stand alone, and the Ash of the title does not refer to the trilogy character Ash.  I’m excited about it because I get to explore some more layers of the universe in a completely different way to the trilogy.  Different approach to narrative, different issues, same universe.  Fun!

I have completed the first draft of the third book, Full Circle, and am nervously awaiting editor’s comments.

This morning I read the first known piece of fan fic set in the Castings Universe.  While I have to officially say that I am protecting my copyright and asserting my intellectual rights, I am chuffed.  I’ve always wanted to be fanficed.  It was pretty good, too!

For those interested:  the official position is that copyright of all material, characters, etc, published under my name remains my property.  If people acknowledge my ownership, however, as this piece does, I am happy for them to explore aspects of my worlds and share them with others, as long as readers are not asked to pay.  If you want to fanfic Castings and you have questions, please email me (click on Contact Pamela).

awe man…is there any way Full Circle can be released earlier then 2010?! I got Deep Water for Christmas, and I finished it the very next day, and it’s killing me not knowing what’s going to happen next! It’s honestly driving me completely nuts…(In a good way, of course)

Sarah, it’s your lucky day - Full Circle will be out later in 2009! It’s the stand alone book which will be out in 2010. If you’re in Australia, you’ll get Full Circle in September, and a few weeks later in the US and UK. So glad it’s driving you nuts (in a good way, of course)!

:D That’s awesome! I’m going to guess that it’ll be out in Canada at the same time as in the US so I’ll make sure to mark it down on my calender! I actually got a friend hooked on this series so she’ll be extatic as well!

    Pamela,
Just finished Deep Water and enjoyed it immensely - can’t wait for the final ‘chapter’. Having so many ‘leads’ in a story can be disconcerting to me as a reader but I’ve survived! Well done. Hope they make it into a movie for you.

Thanks, Michael. I’m glad you enjoyed it. It would be nice to have a movie, wouldn’t it? Although I’d quite like a TV series, too - I think it might be easier to deal with the shorter first person stories in a TV format, much as Lost or Heroes do.

Not that I’m impressed a lot, but this is a lot more than I expected when I found a link on Furl telling that the info here is awesome. Thanks.

Omigosh, I absolutely adored the first two books! The world of the Eleven Domains is so believable and the characters are so well-written - I am like a fish. Completely hooked on your fantastic trilogy!! I hope you don’t mind, but I’m currently making sketches of various scenes I’ve read, just to see how they turn out. I was thinking of uploading one or two onto FB, just wondering if that’s the same rules as with fanfics :)
Thank you for an amazing adventure, I hope it’ll never end!

Jossy, I’d love to see some drawings - as children’s writer who has worked with lots of illustrators, I’m always amazed at how anyone can take a written description and turn it into an image. Just acknowledge the source and we’ll be fine - why not join the FB Castings Trilogy page and post them there? So glad you like the books.
